There is a homey hangout at the corner of San Jose Street and Rizal Avenue in Dumaguete City that serves what could be the best silvanas I have ever tasted.
This is Sans Rival Bistro. The Sagarbarrias recently converted the first floor into a commercial space, making room for more customers who long for their delicious cakes and pastries. The original store, Sans Rival Cakes & Pastries, is a few meters away from the bistro along San Jose Street. It has been serving cakes and pastries since 1977, adding delicious items on the menu as they expand.
With a number of food items to choose from, we settled for a serving of sans rival, and one piece each of chocolate and original silvanas. The sans rival was too buttery for me. The silvanas, on the other hand, were too good I thought about bringing some home in Metro Manila.
You might want to visit Dumaguete City in the near future. Remember to drop by the Sans Rival Bistro. It’s a good place to relax and dine after strolling around the city.
