Manila, Philippines (Sept. 7, 2016) – Mamuyac bagged first spot among the 10 young athletes from all over Asia at SC’s Under Armour Asia Camp in Taiwan yesterday.
Gian Mamuyac, a player for the Philippines’ U-18 National Team, stayed close in front of Curry and blocked the Back-to-Back MVP’s three-point attempt. Highlighting the camp, the young pinoy was awarded the MVP of the Under Armour Asia Camp in Taiwan yesterday, September 6.
The Philippines never missed out this tour as basketball is the country’s top sport and being able to play on court with Stephen Curry is one of the Filipino youth’s most awaited basketball experience.
Gian represented the country together with Juan Gomez De Liano of UP Maroons team.
The Back-to-Back MVP embarked on his second annual summer tour with Under Armour which began September 2. Unique experiences rolled out across four cities in five days for fans to feel the fervor and excitement for basketball that only Stephen and Under Armour can provide.
Some of Asia’s best young basketball players and fans experienced Stephen’s relentless dedication to the game of basketball up close and personal during tour stops in Shenyang, Guangzhou, Hong Kong and Taipei.
“I’m thrilled to get the chance to visit some of the best basketball fans in the world this summer,” said Curry. “Being able to share my passion for the game with this next generation of players in Asia—while immersing myself in their incredible culture and witnessing first-hand the infatuation for the game—is humbling, and personally it’s a tremendous reenergizer for the upcoming season. I can’t wait to meet some of the phenomenal fans and players who are committed to driving the game forward on a global scale.”
National Hero Dr. Jose Rizal once said, “Ang taong hindi marunong lumingon sa pinanggalingan, hindi makakarating sa patutunguhan.” (He who does not know how to look back at where he came from will never get to his destination.) This adage is a constant reminder for each one of us to look back where we came from, so that we may learn from the lessons of the past.
Our country has a very rich and colorful history and multi-racial culture as told through history books, literary works, various landmarks, and from the stories passed along by our ancestors through the generations. We may ask ourselves, “How much do we know about our history and culture?” A lot. Or maybe not that much? Decades have passed and most of us can only remember so much about our history and culture relying on books and multimedia sources, among others.
One of the most prominent landmark mentioned in Philippine history books is the Pasig River. National hero and novelist Dr. Jose Rizal even mentioned it in his two books Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo. Due to its geographical location which cuts through several Metro Manila cities, Pasig River became the gateway to the country’s historical, cultural and social life.
Through the years, industrialization has brought so much progress to various sectors of the government and the surrounding nearby communities, thus, Pasig River slowly lost its beauty as more factories were built along or near the banks. But with the recent rehabilitation efforts in place, bit by bit, the Pasig River is starting to gain back its glory.
Now, Zoomanity Group gives us one very good reason to relive and revive our country’s rich and colorful history and culture through the organised tours of the Pasig River aboard the air-conditioned ferries with Zooper Cruise.
Zooper Cruise offers all local and foreign tourists a relaxing, fun, enjoyable and educational tour of the Pasig River and the Philippine history. The tour kicks off at the Valenzuela Station in Guadalupe, Makati to Plaza Mexico in Intramuros. The tour offers a glimpse of the famous Malacanang Palace, which is the official residence of the President of the Republic of the Philippines and the classic architectural design of the Philippine Post Office Building, passing through decades-old bridges. Tour participants can indulge in the specially prepared snacks aboard, a souvenir photo and a sumptuous lauriat dinner in a restaurant in the heart of Binondo to cap off the day. All these for only Php1,999.00 per person.
Currently, there are two scheduled tours on the following dates: October 15 and November 11, 2016, from 3pm up to 9pm. The pick-up of all tour participants is at Alveo Place in Ayala Circuit at exactly 2:30 in the afternoon. A shuttle will then take them to Valenzuela Station in JP Rizal.
Remarkably, part of the proceeds of the Zooper Cruise tours will benefit the conservation projects of CSR-Zoomanity Foundation under the Yupangco Group of Companies.
Zooper Cruise offers special packages for schools and companies such as Educational Tour, Company Tour and Events, Anniversaries, Birthdays and other special occasions.

UA ARCHITECH 3D PRINTED PERFORMANCE TRAINER & UA SLINGSHOT RUNNING FOOTWEAR TO PROVIDE PERSONAL MOTIVATION FOR ELITE SWIMMER
Under Armour, the global leader in innovative performance footwear, apparel and equipment has taken footwear innovation to the next level. In March, the Brand introduced its first-ever 3D printed performance trainer, the UA Architech. The UA Architech is a 360-degree performance training shoe that features a functional 3D printed midsole and 3D ClutchFit auxetic upper design that creates a “super-hybrid” trainer. This performance trainer provides athletes with the ultimate stability and cushioning to take on the most intense workouts, and it’s travelling all the way to Rio on the feet of elite swimmer, Michael Phelps.
In addition to the state-of- the-art technology and custom color design, Michael’s footwear features a personal touch to provide an additional source of motivation as he heads into competition. His 3-month old son, Boomer’s footprint is printed on the insole of the shoe as a personal reminder that Boomer is with him every step and stroke of the way.
The innovative 3D printed midsole of the UA Architech was combined with a flow-molded 3D ClutchFit auxetic upper to provide athletes with a shoe that not only gives a locked-in, supportive feel, but also flexes and moves with the foot to provide a zero distractions experience. Add in the Brand’s unparalleled Charged Cushioning underfoot for responsiveness and comfort, and a thin rubber outsole for traction and you have Under Armour’s most elite performance trainer.
A new color of the UA Architech will be available as a limited edition offering to consumers this August on UA.com. The shoe, which retails for $299.99, was the first 3D printed performance trainer available to consumers. The first color was available in March and sold out in under 20 minutes.

A group of passionate athletes from different backgrounds were bored with gym or their usual training routine. These folks wanted to get the best results from a demanding, varied and fun workout. The journey began in 2011, when one member came across CrossFit in the USA and immediately fell in love and got addicted to the sport. Spreading the gospel about CrossFit to athletes coming from various disciplines, they formed CrossFit MNL knowing the benefits of the program and the need for a new sport in the Philippines.

It’s not everyday that we get to be heroes for children in need, so why not tie those shoelaces and run with Anne Curtis on September 4, 2016, Sunday, at the SM Mall of Asia grounds?
To mark UNICEF’s 70th anniversary, UNICEF Celebrity Advocate for Children Anne Curtis calls on runners to join the second year of the Heroes for Children Run.
“I was deeply inspired by the support we received during last year’s run. From children with disabilities to serious runners, the public came together for a great cause. This year, I’m inviting everyone once again to be a hero for children. All proceeds will benefit UNICEF’s First 1,000 Days campaign for children’s health and nutrition needs,” says Curtis
“For 70 years, UNICEF has worked to improve the lives of the most disadvantaged, vulnerable, and excluded children around the world. Despite the many gains, the lives and futures of millions of children are still in jeopardy. In the Philippines, one out of three children under the age of five suffers from chronic malnutrition—the effects of which can be permanent, irreversible and even fatal after two years of age. UNICEF believes every child should have a fair chance at life,” UNICEF Philippines Country Representative Lotta Sylwander says.
The First 1,000 Days program focuses on prenatal and early childhood interventions to prevent undernutrition, including quality care for mothers, proper nutrition and complementary feeding, and life-saving treatment for severe acute malnutrition. The effect of good health and nutrition lasts well into adulthood and is key ingredient in breaking the cycle of poverty.
Last year’s run saw more than 3,200 runners raise Php 3 million for the benefit of the First 1,000 Days programme. This year, the event aims to attract more runners to raise funds for the campaign.
“We are grateful for Anne’s dedication and significant contributions in raising awareness and funds for children in need. Anne’s power lies in her sincerity and genuine passion in everything she does. Through her support, we will continue to make a huge difference for children in need,” Sylwander adds.
Fans who want to support Anne but cannot physically run or be present on race day may donate on her personal SimplyGiving fundraising page at www.simplygiving.com/event/HeroesforChildrenRun2016. Ms. Curtis was appointed as UNICEF Celebrity Advocate in November 2014.
Online registration is ongoing at www.runrio.com/HeroesforChildren until 19 August 2016. In-store registration is ongoing until 28 August 2016 at the following Chris Sports outlets: SM Mall of Asia, SM Megamall, SM City North Edsa, SM City BF Homes, Glorietta, Market! Market!, Robinsons Place Manila, and UP Town Center (from August 15 to 28). The run is one of many activities slated in 2016 as UNICEF commemorates its 70th year helping to build a better world for every child.
The Heroes for Children Run 2016 is organized by Anne Curtis and co-presented by RunRio through the support of SM Mall of Asia, Cherry Mobile, Gatorade, Viva Artists Agency Incorporated, Toy Kingdom, Swatch, Eureka Home Appliances, Maynilad, Philippine Star, Good Housekeeping, Female Network, SM Cinemas, Nyxsys Philippines, Chris Sports, F1 Hotel & Resorts, Transprint Corporation, Microtel by Wyndham, Hisense/Devant, and Pacific Cross Insurance.

Running is arguably one of the most popular sports today — and the most preferred fitness exercise by Filipinos. It boasts of many health benefits, promotes healthy lifestyle, prolongs life and in some cases, may even save lives.
World Vision Run is an annual charity event that promotes healthy lifestyle through running, while also raising funds to help secure a better future for thousands of Filipino children. When you run for World Vision, you’re not just running for your own health, but for children.
Malnutrition is still the leading health problems among Filipino children. The National Nutrition Survey shows that 2 out of 10 children under 5 are malnourished. Meanwhile, 10 million children die before their 5th birthday every year due to preventable diseases.
For almost 60 years in the Philippines, World Vision has taken huge strides to ensure that Filipino children enjoy the fullness of life they deserve. Proceeds from this charity event will be used to fund nutrition interventions in areas where chronic malnutrition is most prevalent.
Now on its 5th year, World Vision Run offers a bigger and more fun-filled activities the whole family will enjoy. The event is happening on June 26, 2016 at the Blue Bay Walk in Pasay City, with an expected 7,000 participants. Race categories include 3k, 5k, 10k, 21k, and a 500-meter dash for kids. The event is co-presented by Run Rio, Inc.
